Thorne Green Top Primary School

Welcome to Thorne Green Top Primary School
Thorne Green Top Primary School was built in 1940 as Southend Primary School. It later became Southend Junior School, then Green Top First, finally becoming once again a Primary School in 1995. For 60 years it has been a feature of Thorne life, providing an excellent education for the children and sharing in the life of the town. Many respected members of the community have been educated here!

The main school entrance is situated at the site of the medieval gate to the town of 'Thorne' and its main pedestrian access is off Stonegate, which runs along Thorne Ridge to the Norman church of St. Nicholas. This church is a central part of the old town, together with Peel Castle. This area, including the town centre, up to the North Railway Station, and as far west as Kirton Lane make up the school's normal 'catchment' area.
